I then delved into the captivating blues of cyanotype and the delicate nuances of salt printing. Yet, it was carbon printing that truly captured my heart, not only for its rich, archival black and white tones but also for its stunning ability to render images in vibrant color.
What makes these last three techniques particularly exciting is their unique bridge between eras. They allow me to seamlessly merge the old with the new, enabling me to create prints from negatives captured on traditional argentic cameras, digital files from modern cameras, and even images taken with my phone. My creative process has now evolved to an even more thrilling frontier, where I collaborate with artificial intelligence to generate visuals that are then brought to life through the nearly 200-year-old art of carbon printing—a testament to the enduring power and adaptability of these incredible historical processes.
