The Unfolding Story of My Photographic Journey

Get to Know my storie

My passion for photography didn't ignite in a single flash, but rather developed like a slow-burning film, with roots stretching back to the late 90s. I started, like many, with the convenience of digital, capturing moments with my Nikon Coolpix 950, then later graduating to more advanced DSLRs like the Nikon D90 and the D800. Digital was fast, immediate, and forgiving, allowing me to explore without the constraints of film.

Yet, tucked away, almost forgotten, was a gift from my father: his old Nikon F. For nearly twenty years, it sat idle, a silent testament to a different era of photography. What a shame, indeed! But one day, a whim led me to the Berlin Zoo, and with it, the long-dormant Nikon F, loaded with a forgotten roll of black and white film. My goal was simply to finish the roll.

What happened next was a revelation. When I finally dropped off that black and white film for development, an unexpected wave of anticipation washed over me. The waiting, the not knowing what treasures or blurs lay within, felt like the beginning of a suspense movie. And when I finally held those prints in my hands, seeing the world through that old lens, a profound excitement bloomed. It was a tangible connection to the image, a far cry from the instant gratification of digital.

That moment was a turning point. From there, my journey into the art of photography deepened considerably. I began to teach myself, devouring online videos and articles, learning the meticulous processes of developing black and white film and then, even more thrilling, printing them in the darkroom. The magic of watching an image slowly appear on paper was utterly captivating. My exploration didn't stop there; I delved further into the fascinating world of alternative photography and old processes, connecting with the historical roots of the medium.

It brings me immense joy to realize that I am now pursuing, with fervent passion, what my grandfather practiced as a profession. Photography, for me, has transformed from a casual pastime into a profound connection to both history and personal expression, a truly fulfilling journey of discovery.
